Upgrade of the original impact printer to provide a faster output of a ticket. The original impct printer was chosen as a direct result of experiance at the time with children seeing how many tickets they could print before the floor walker caught them. The slightly noisy and slow impact printer discouraged this activity, but the vast reduction in waiting times over the years has reduced the problem and now the slow tickets can actually hold up seeing visitors. Thermal paper also removes the need for an ink ribbon in the printer, but the higher cost of thermal paper actually increases the cost of tickets, but with a much cleaner ticket resulting.
